SALINAS DE ORO: It is a town with 115 inhabitants that is located on a small hill of 683 metres. It is 27 kilometres from Pamplona and 23 kilometres from Estella. The waters from the “Río Salado” the Salty River and other water sources in the municipality are used to obtain salt, the activity from which the name of the town is given.
The salt flats are located about 500 metres from the centre of the village, where salt is obtained by evaporation. Without doubt this traditional activity and artisanal excellence of Salinas de Oro are their salt flats. Most of the salt flats were abandoned; however, nowadays the tradition of extracting salt still exists.
The beautiful natural surroundings stand out in this municipality, together with buildings with coats of arms from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries scattered through the town.
This is a small family business where salt is extracted the traditional way.
